Graphic Designer

Description The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is a key contributor to the Learning Experience Innovation (LEI) team, responsible for designing and building innovative, learner-centered learning experiences that drive meaningful behavioral change. This role focuses on producing high-quality facilitated, digital, blended, and immersive learning solutions using modern design methodologies (including the Successive Approximation Model), AI-assisted workflows, and evidence-driven design practices. A successful LXD in this role believes that learning should improve real-world performance, not just expose people to information. They design with capability over coverage in mind: the goal is a meaningful shift in what someone can do, not how much they have been shown. They understand that performance happens under imperfect conditions, and they design practice activities that reflect real-world complexity rather than simplified knowledge checks. The team designs leadership development across all organizational levels, from emerging frontline leaders to C-suite executives. The LXD partners with senior designers, product management stakeholders, and subject matter experts to research, design, prototype, and iterate on learning experiences. They contribute to the team's standards and best practices while growing their expertise across delivery modalities including live simulation, e-learning, virtual learning, AI-powered tools, and multimedia content. This role works within a fast-paced, iterative design culture where working prototypes and early stakeholder feedback replace lengthy development cycles. The LXD is expected to leverage AI tools to accelerate content production, improve personalization, and support quality assurance. They contribute to cross-functional product delivery alongside engineering, design, and project management teams. This role reports to the Director of Content Innovation and Leadership Development and is full-time with potential for growth based on performance and motivation. Responsibilities Design and build learner-centered blended learning experiences (instructor led training, e-learning, interactive scenarios, simulations, multimedia assets) that prioritize practice and behavioral application over content delivery. Immerse themselves in end user needs, the problem being solved, and the context in which learning will be applied. Build and maintain a strong understanding of the behavior or competency being developed throughout the design process. Apply the Successive Approximation Model (SAM1 for small projects, SAM2 for complex projects) as the primary design methodology, working in iterative loops of evaluate, design, develop with frequent stakeholder feedback. Use Action Mapping to ground learning design in measurable business goals and observable performance gaps, ensuring every instructional element traces back to a real-world behavior. Contribute to simulation and scenario-based learning experiences for leadership development, including branching narratives, scored decision points, and facilitator-supported formats. Leverage AI tools (prompt engineering, AI-assisted content drafting, AI-powered QA review, and emerging agentic workflows) to accelerate production, improve quality, and support personalization at scale. Produce mobile-first, accessible, responsive learning content and validate across devices and assistive technologies. Implement and validate xAPI and SCORM packaging for learning content, supporting data collection that measures behavioral application and job-level outcomes, not just completion. Collaborate with subject matter experts, product managers, engineers, and senior designers through structured review cycles (Design Proof, Alpha, Beta, Gold) to deliver quality at each milestone. Create and maintain learning plans as pre-build artifacts that document the performance gap, desired behavioral shift, terminal objectives, measurement plan, and objective-to-treatment linkage. Participate in design sprints, pilots, user testing, and review sessions, contributing observations and design recommendations. Apply accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design principles to ensure learning experiences serve diverse audiences. Stay current with emerging technologies, EdTech trends, and learning science research, and recommend practical applications to the team. Support the documentation of design standards, templates, and reusable patterns that raise the team's baseline quality. Manage assigned projects per agreed-upon requirements, timelines, and specifications with guidance from senior team members. Requirements (These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for the job) B.S./B.A. or higher 1-3 years of experience in one or more of the following:

Designing digital or blended learning products across delivery modalities (e-learning, virtual, simulation, in-person).

Applying iterative instructional design methodology (SAM, design thinking, agile/sprint-based design) to produce learning solutions grounded in behavioral outcomes.

Building interactive learning content using rapid authoring tools (Articulate 360, Rise, or equivalent).

Working with AI tools for content creation, review, or prototyping (prompt engineering, AI-assisted drafting).

Collaborating with subject matter experts, product teams, and stakeholders through structured review and feedback cycles.

Producing mobile-responsive, accessible digital content.

Portfolio demonstrating completed learning modules, interactive scenarios, or simulation content with evidence of learner-centered, practice-based design. Familiarity with learning measurement approaches (xAPI, SCORM, LRS/LMS reporting) and a commitment to designing for measurable behavioral outcomes. Comfort working in AI-augmented workflows, including using generative AI for AI-augmented learning experiences, content drafting, review, and iteration. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Problem-solving, design thinking, and critical analysis skills. Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and ability to work independently while seeking feedback and coaching. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and deliver within tight timeframes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, e-learning authoring tools, and experience with learning management systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience in leadership behavior change, leadership development, or leadership consulting. Experience with the Successive Approximation Model (SAM1/SAM2) or demonstrated fluency with iterative, prototype-driven design processes. Exposure to simulation design, branching scenario development, or gamified learning experiences for professional/leadership audiences. Experience with Replit, Miro, Xyleme, or other rapid prototyping and collaboration tools. Familiarity with xAPI statement design, learning analytics dashboards, or LRS configuration. Understanding of behavior change science, action mapping, or performance consulting frameworks. Experience in a SaaS, product, or enterprise content environment. About Legion Let’s be real, AI isn’t magic; Legion was built to move beyond AI hype—delivering secure, reliable systems that work alongside the people tackling the world’s most critical challenges. Born from a Department of Defense partnership and trusted by leaders across government and enterprise, Legion embeds intelligence inside complex systems, unlocking data, accelerating human workflows, and strengthening mission-critical systems. We don’t replace workflows—we optimize them, ensuring quality, efficiency, and reliability inside the platforms our partners already use. With world-class collaborators like Palantir, Nvidia, HPE, and Oracle, we’re building intelligent infrastructure that enhances human capability and drives impact at the edge and across a range of enterprises. We’re looking for bold thinkers and doers to join us in shaping the future of AI that’s secure, grounded, and built to work. Creative Director (Remote US)

You will set the creative bar in, brand design, art direction, or creative services, in high-growth technology, AI, B2B SaaS, or similarly complex and technical markets***

Required: A link to your online portfolio or a PDF upload of your work samples is required to be considered for this role. (see options below to provide link or upload***

The Role Legion produces a steady and growing stream of creative across brand, demand, product, web, social, video, and events. We are bringing that creative capability in-house and closer to the team, and rebuilding it as an AI-native creative function, while keeping our agency partner for the largest and most specialized bets. As Creative Director, you are the hands-on operating core of that function: the senior creative who sets the bar, ships the work, and builds the prompts, templates, and playbooks that let a lean team produce like a much larger one. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role to start, a player-coach who makes the work. You will report to the SVP of Marketing and partner first across the marketing team, including Federal Marketing, Demand Marketing, Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, and PR. You will work closely with the Product team on product design direction and in-product visuals, and with GTM and Sales on enablement and customer-facing materials. You will build and manage a small flex bench of designers and specialists over time, with limited contractor support to start. Why This Role Matters Legion’s work spans national security, defense, intelligence, the public sector, critical infrastructure, and the national research labs, work that often matters most where it cannot be discussed. The creative function you build is how that mission becomes legible to the people who need to understand it. You will be building the creative infrastructure that lets Legion tell a hard, important story at the speed the moment demands. Legion is a remote-first company and an equal opportunity employer. We offer competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and a culture built on ownership, discipline, and mission. To apply, submit your resume along with a portfolio or work samples. You will work at two levels at once

At the craft level, setting the creative bar and personally shipping the highest-priority brand, campaign, product, and web work.

At the systems level, building the machine-readable brand, prompts, and AI-native workflows that make on-brand speed the default for the whole team.

The way we build for customers is the way you will build here: a human sets intent, AI does the heavy lifting, and a human approves what ships. This is a builder’s seat, not a brand-police seat. If you want to define how a modern, AI-native marketing team creates, ships, governs, and scales creative work, this is that role. What You Will Own Creative Direction and Hands-On Execution

Set the creative bar across brand, web, campaigns, events, social, video, and sales materials, and personally design and produce the highest-priority work. This is a hands-on role first, a player-coach who still makes the work.

Translate complex AI, agent orchestration, edge, and national security concepts into clear, credible visual systems.

Campaign and Go-to-Market Creative

Partner with Federal Marketing, Demand Marketing, and Product Marketing on demand generation, ABM, launches, education, and field events.

Build modular campaign systems, landing pages, social assets, email graphics, sales collateral, and executive materials that scale across channels and audiences.

AI-Native Creative Systems

Use frontier models and AI creative tools daily to build repeatable workflows that compound over time, across video, campaign kits, landing pages, social, product visuals, and decks.

Turn Legion’s brand into machine-readable infrastructure: reusable prompts, templates, kits, and playbooks, with human review at the brief and the final gate, plus clear guardrails for AI tooling, IP, and brand safety.

Creative Operations and the Flex Bench

Build and manage a flexible bench of freelance designers, motion and video specialists, and other contractors from the ground up, deploying them for surges and specialty work as demand grows.

Own intake, prioritization, briefs, review rituals, and clear SLAs from brief to first concept to shipped asset.

Product Design Support

Partner with the Product team to help set visual design direction that brings the product in line with the Legion brand, raising the baseline polish of apps, Spaces, and features so the product looks as credible as it is capable.

Oversee and produce product and in-product visual support: icons, diagrams, app imagery, feature visuals, and lightweight in-product creative.

Performance and Measurement

Run creative as a measurable loop, from brief to shipped asset to performance read to the next iteration, in close partnership with Demand Marketing and Marketing Operations.

Use performance signals to sharpen concepts, formats, and priorities, without letting short-term optimization erode brand quality.

What We’re Looking For

8+ years in creative, brand design, art direction, or creative services, in high-growth technology, AI, B2B SaaS, or similarly complex and technical markets, with real hands-on production and not just oversight.

A portfolio that shows range and craft across brand, campaign, web, social, video, and product or technical storytelling, with both concept and execution.

Daily, advanced use of AI in the creative process: frontier models such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, and AI design, image, and video tools such as Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, Runway, Google Veo, Sora, and ElevenLabs. You build the best available draft and invite reaction rather than waiting for perfect information.

Preferred

Experience in defense, national security, intelligence, national labs, critical infrastructure, public sector, or other regulated, high-consequence industries.

Experience with ABM, demand generation, product launches, or full-funnel B2B campaigns.

Experience with lightweight web tools such as Webflow or Framer.

Experience building AI brand kits or machine-readable brand guidance that other people adopted.

Required: A link to your online portfolio or a PDF upload of your work samples is required to be considered for this role.
