Responsibilities

  • Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support a busy civil litigation practice.
  • This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple matters simultaneously while providing strong litigation, administrative, and trial support to attorneys.
  • The ideal candidate has hands-on litigation experience, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the legal team.
  • Case Management & Litigation Support
  • Manage all phases of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, Requests for Production, and Requests for Admission.
  • Coordinate document review, production, and e-discovery using litigation support software.
  • Assist attorneys with drafting pleadings, motions (including motions for summary judgment and ex parte motions), briefs, and legal memoranda.
  • Prepare and manage state and federal court filings, including proficiency with electronic filing systems (ECF/e-filing).
  • Maintain a comprehensive litigation calendar, tracking court deadlines, statutes of limitations, depositions, hearings, and key case milestones.
  • Investigation & Research
  • Conduct factual investigations, including interviewing clients and witnesses and drafting witness declarations.
  • Prepare case status summaries and internal memoranda.
  • Perform limited legal research under attorney supervision, including research of California and federal case law, statutes, and procedural rules.
  • Obtain, review, and summarize records such as medical, employment, and financial records, as well as deposition and hearing transcripts.
  • Trial Preparation
  • Assist with all aspects of trial preparation, including:
  • Drafting exhibit lists, witness lists, and jury instructions.
  • Preparing trial notebooks, binders, and exhibits.
  • Coordinating trial logistics, vendors, and necessary equipment.
  • Administrative & Firm Support
  • Provide backup phone coverage as needed.
  • Screen potential new clients and assist with opening new client files and matters.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to work-related emails, phone calls, and correspondence.
  • Support business development initiatives, including editing presentations, assisting with video recordings, editing transcripts, and conducting market research.
  • Organize and maintain all digital client files.
  • Enter expenses into the firm's practice management system.
  • Assist with internal data analysis, including Excel spreadsheets.
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as assigned by firm leadership.

Billing Requirements

  • Minimum billing requirement of 120 hours per month.
  • Time billed in minimum increments of 0.1 hours (6 minutes).
  • All billable and non-billable time must be tracked and entered daily into the firm's practice management system.

Qualifications

  • Education: Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
  • Technical Proficiency Required:
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
  • Legal research tools (Westlaw and/or LexisNexis)
  • AI tools (e.g., Perplexity, Gemini, NotebookLM)
  • Practice management software (PracticePanther or similar systems such as Clio or MyCase)
  • Court filing and litigation support vendors (e.g., OneLegal, Odyssey eFileCA, First Legal)
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Eagerness to learn and willingness to ask questions
  • Ability to follow established firm processes and procedures
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • A history of job stability and at least 3 years of civil litigation experience supporting multiple attorneys.
  • Individuals with a dedicated, distraction-free home office.
  • Candidates available to work Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST.
  • Professionals capable of managing 40-50 active matters simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented candidates with strong follow-through and accountability.

  • Paid Time Off (PTO):
  • 80 hours annually during Years 1 and 2
  • Increases to 120 hours starting in Year 3
  • Paid Holidays: 11 firm-observed holidays per year.
