Founded in 2014, Whelan Advisory Capital Markets is a FINRA-registered boutique investment bank with an active practice led by seasoned senior advisors. We specialize in the residential real estate and construction industries where we exclusively represent clients as their sell-side advisor or in raising capital. The firm was founded by Margaret Whelan out of a desire to provide a higher level of service and a more efficient, customized approach to investment banking in the residential real estate industry. About the Position
This is a unique opportunity for a bright, flexible, and ambitious individual who is seeking direct exposure and impact by working on live transactions from pitch to closing. The candidate will assume a diverse set of responsibilities, support the firm's transactions, and contribute to its ongoing growth through internal initiatives. The candidate will be involved in every aspect of the deal process including financial modeling, presentation creation, client interaction, and hosting tours and meetings with buyers and investors.
The individual should have a strong interest in the residential building industry and be excited to work on a streamlined, dynamic team in a remote environment. As such, you will build significant experience executing on multiple successful transaction closings each year.

Responsibilities
Support Senior Whelan Advisory Team Members in All Phases of the Firm’s Transactions
- Create and maintain marketing collateral, pitch books, and valuation materials
- Financial modeling, including traditional valuation and industry-specific methodologies
- Build Confidential Investor Presentations for sell-side M&A and capital raising processes
- Efficient and accurate organization and analysis of due diligence information
- Create ad hoc transaction organizational documents
- Develop client relationships, working efficiently and accurately in a time-sensitive environment
Strategic Firm Development and Growth
- Create and maintain firm marketing content
- Attend industry conferences and events
- Track active internal pipeline of current and prospective mandates
- Coordinate firmwide meetings and ongoing internal initiatives
- Recruit additional junior and mid-level talent over time to support firm’s continued growth
Experience, Skills & Requirements
- Ambitious and educated professional with 3+ years in investment banking or similar client-facing role
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field; CPA / CFA / MBA beneficial
- Knowledge of real estate, particularly the residential housing sector, preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Critical thinker with a strong work ethic
- Exceptional attention to detail and meticulous approach to financial analysis and presentation material creation
- Self-starter who can simultaneously manage several deals and multiple responsibilities, while working in a remote environment
- Extensive experience in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, including creation of pitches, business development materials, and marketing documents
- Deep knowledge of corporate finance principles, including financial statement analysis, capital structure analysis, valuation, modeling, investment returns analysis, and similar concepts
- Existing FINRA licenses (Series 79, Series 63) preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship
