About The Role
The Human Resources Generalist at MI Windows and Doors plays a vital role in supporting the company’s mission to foster a positive and productive workplace environment. This position acts as a strategic partner to leaders and employees, providing guidance on employee relations, compliance, HR operations, and organizational development. The HR Generalist is responsible for managing employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administration, while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws. The role requires a proactive approach to employee engagement, conflict resolution, and performance management, ultimately contributing to organizational effectiveness and a respectful workplace culture. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and professionalism in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of three years of HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing or multi-site environment, is required. Experience supporting employee relations investigations, resolving workplace issues, and administering HR programs, policies, and procedures is essential. Familiarity with benefits administration, leave management, and HR compliance, along with proficiency in HRIS systems such as Workday, is highly preferred. Professional HR certifications like PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP are considered a plus. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted HR resource for leaders and team members regarding workplace concerns, conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretation.
- Conduct employee relations investigations and provide actionable recommendations based on findings.
- Support corrective actions, documentation, and performance improvement plans to foster a high-performance culture.
- Partner with leadership to promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace environment.
- Provide guidance on attendance policies, conduct issues, workplace accommodations, and leave administration.
- Implement proactive communication strategies and employee engagement initiatives to enhance morale and organizational commitment.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and company policies through regular review and updates.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and mitigate organizational and employee relations risks.
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience.
- Maintain accurate employee records and process HR transactions within Workday and related systems.
- Support performance management processes and talent development initiatives to foster employee growth.
- Participate in HR projects, training programs, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance HR service delivery.
- Analyze HR data to identify trends, generate reports, and provide insights to leadership for strategic decision-making.
- Support payroll processing by collecting and verifying timekeeping information accurately.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and respond to related inquiries promptly.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR support needs.
- Partner with the HR team to plan and execute employee engagement, team-building, and recognition programs.
- Provide administrative support to the HR Manager and department, including preparing reports and documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall HR function and organizational goals.
