The Opportunity

Metric DCX is retained by a rapidly growing technology infrastructure business delivering advanced data center solutions for high-density AI and GPU computing environments.

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of mechanical engineering across multiple data center infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on liquid cooling, thermal management and mission-critical cooling systems.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping engineering standards, influencing technical decisions and supporting the delivery of next-generation AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering and design across multiple data center infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and review cooling solutions for high-density AI/GPU environments, including direct-to-chip liquid cooling, CDUs and secondary cooling loops.
  • Oversee chilled-water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, pumps, heat exchangers and associated piping systems.
  • Review mechanical calculations, equipment sizing, piping layouts, P&IDs and engineering specifications.
  • Establish mechanical design standards and ensure consistency across projects.
  • Lead technical design reviews and resolve engineering and constructability challenges.
  • Work closely with electrical engineers, construction teams, equipment manufacturers and external consultants.
  • Support equipment selection, procurement, installation and commissioning.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) licence – required.
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within data centers, mission-critical facilities or similarly complex infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of data center cooling systems, hydronics and liquid cooling technologies.
  • Experience with CDUs, chilled-water systems, pumps, heat exchangers and associated controls.
  • Understanding of ASHRAE guidelines and relevant mechanical building codes.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and calculations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and engage with senior technical stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

  • Hyperscale or colocation data center projects.
  • High-density AI/GPU infrastructure and direct-to-chip liquid cooling.
  • Leading engineering teams or establishing company-wide design standards.
  • Modular or prefabricated infrastructure solutions.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Remote position with flexibility to be based anywhere in the US.
  • Competitive base salary up to $210,000.
  • Exposure to advanced AI and high-density data center infrastructure.
  • Opportunity to influence engineering strategy and technical standards.
  • Work across multiple projects with a growing infrastructure business.
