Overview
We are seeking an experienced Radiology Implementation Project Manager to lead a major Merge PACS implementation across a multi‑site health system. While prior Merge PACS experience is a plus, it is not required—however, candidates must have hands‑on experience managing PACS implementations (any vendor) in a healthcare environment.
This PM will serve as the primary implementation partner, working closely with internal leadership, a dedicated PACS architect, the resource manager, and the Merge vendor team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of thinking through every detail of a complex imaging system deployment—from requirements gathering to cutover planning, data migration, integration coordination, and go‑live readiness.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Planning
- Lead the end‑to‑end project management of a large‑scale Merge PACS implementation over a 15‑month timeline.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and risk logs.
- Coordinate remote and onsite activities, including milestone meetings in Houston.
- Serve as the central point of communication between internal teams, the PACS architect, resource manager, and Merge vendor PM.
Requirements Gathering & Workflow Analysis
- Facilitate detailed requirements sessions with radiology, IT, clinical operations, and imaging stakeholders.
- Document current‑state workflows and define future‑state processes aligned with Merge PACS capabilities.
- Identify gaps, dependencies, and integration needs across the enterprise.
Technical Coordination & Integration Support
- Partner with the PACS architect to ensure technical design aligns with operational needs.
- Coordinate with integrated health systems and external partners to support interoperability and data exchange.
- Oversee data migration planning, including validation, mapping, testing, and cutover sequencing.
- Ensure alignment across modalities, RIS/EMR teams, network teams, and imaging operations.
Cutover, Testing, and Go‑Live Readiness
- Develop comprehensive cutover plans covering all imaging sites and modalities.
- Lead testing cycles (unit, integration, UAT) with clinical and technical teams.
- Coordinate training timelines and readiness activities with operational leaders.
- Support go‑live execution and post‑go‑live stabilization.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary liaison with Merge’s project management and technical teams.
- Work closely with Josh (resource lead) to ensure appropriate staffing, task assignment, and issue escalation.
- Facilitate cross‑functional communication and ensure alignment across all stakeholders.
Risk, Issue, and Change Management
- Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage scope changes, dependencies, and timeline adjustments.
- Provide clear, concise status reporting to leadership and governance groups.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Project Management experience in healthcare IT.
- Direct experience managing PACS implementations (any vendor: Merge, GE, Philips, Fuji, Sectra, Agfa, etc.).
- Strong understanding of radiology workflows, imaging systems, and clinical operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with data migration planning, cutover coordination, and integration workflows.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while coordinating distributed teams.
- Willingness to travel to Houston for key meetings and onsite activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Merge PACS (implementation or operational).
- PMP, PMI‑ACP, or equivalent certification.
- Background working with large health systems or multi‑site imaging environments.
- Familiarity with EMR/RIS integrations (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
What Success Looks Like
- A well‑structured, well‑communicated project that stays aligned with scope and timeline.
- Strong collaboration with the PACS architect, resource manager, and vendor teams.
- Smooth data migration, testing cycles, and cutover execution.
- A stable, fully adopted Merge PACS environment at go‑live.
