Position: Electrical Application Engineer

Travel: Approximately 15% nationwide travel
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Application Engineer to support the design and development of electrical systems for modular and prefabricated building components. The engineer will work at the intersection of electrical engineering, manufacturing, and construction, ensuring systems are designed for performance, safety, code compliance, manufacturability, transportation, and field installation.
The position requires strong electrical design experience, particularly with single-line diagrams, MV/LV systems, VFDs, panels/switchboards, cable schedules, equipment selection, and electrical drawings.
What You’ll Do
- Design electrical systems for modular and offsite-manufactured products.
- Develop single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, cable schedules, and detailed electrical drawings.
- Select electrical equipment and components and perform conductor sizing.
- Coordinate MV/LV systems with architectural, mechanical, structural, and electrical disciplines.
- Use Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar tools to develop and manage engineering drawings.
- Review vendor drawings, submittals, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Work directly with manufacturing teams to make designs production- and assembly-friendly.
- Evaluate electrical materials and construction methods for cost and performance.
- Support shop-floor and field activities related to constructability and installation.
- Communicate with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Support product development, R&D, technical studies, cost estimates, and proposals.
- Ensure designs meet NEC, NFPA, IBC, and other applicable requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of relevant electrical design/application engineering experience.
- Strong single-line diagram and electrical system design experience.
- Hands-on experience with VFDs, panels, switchboards, and cable scheduling.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, and electrical/building codes.
- Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD, or comparable design software experience.
- Strong communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with modular/prefabricated construction, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or manufacturing is highly desirable.
