About the Role
The Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst is responsible for leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis across the organization. This role partners closely with finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver accurate financial reporting, develop financial models, support executive decision-making, and drive continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical expertise with business acumen and a passion for supporting organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the organization's annual budgeting process and periodic financial forecasting.
- Develop long-range financial plans and scenario analyses to support strategic initiatives.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend actionable solutions.
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop realistic financial plans.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive leadership.
- Perform variance analysis by comparing actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Develop executive dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and management reports.
- Analyze financial trends to provide actionable business insights.
- Present financial findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
Budget Management
- Coordinate budget development with department managers and budget owners.
- Maintain and administer budgeting systems and financial planning tools.
- Monitor departmental spending and budget utilization.
- Ensure budgets remain aligned with organizational priorities.
- Support budget revisions and reforecasting activities throughout the fiscal year.
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Support month-end and year-end financial close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial policies.
- Assist with account reconciliations and financial reporting accuracy.
- Support audit preparation and financial documentation requirements.
Strategic Finance
- Partner with finance leadership on executive reporting and strategic financial initiatives.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and liquidity analyses.
- Develop cost models and profitability analyses.
- Support grant, donor, and program financial reporting where applicable.
- Participate in special financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
- Build and maintain financial models to support planning and forecasting.
- Develop automated reporting tools and dashboards.
- Improve financial processes to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Maintain data integrity across financial planning systems.
- Recommend enhancements to financial reporting and planning workflows.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Six or more years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Accounting, or Corporate Finance.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and complex data analysis.
- Experience with NetSuite Planning & Budgeting (NSPB).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred
- Experience working in nonprofit, humanitarian, international development, or grant-funded organizations.
- Experience with multi-donor financial reporting and grant management.
- Knowledge of Unit4 ERP or similar enterprise financial systems.
- Experience developing executive dashboards and business intelligence reports.
- Familiarity with financial system implementations or process automation initiatives.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or CFA is a plus.
