eProvide engineering analysis and technical support to ensure the reliable interconnection of new generation resources to the electric power system while maintaining compliance with applicable industry standards, utility requirements, and regulatory guidelines
.Job Summar
yThe Power Systems Engineer will perform electrical engineering studies and technical evaluations related to generator interconnections and long-term transmission system planning. The role involves developing system models, conducting power system studies, analyzing operating conditions, identifying solutions to current and future system challenges, and communicating recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
.Key Responsibilitie
- sPerform power system analysis and engineering studies to support generator interconnection requests
- .Conduct power flow studies to evaluate the feasibility and impact of proposed generation projects on the transmission system
- .Analyze simulation results and compare them with actual operating data to ensure compliance with applicable reliability and planning standards
- .Review interconnection applications and technical documentation to verify compliance with utility requirements and industry standards
- .Develop and maintain system models, study methodologies, and engineering tools used for planning and interconnection studies
- .Identify and implement process improvements related to study workflows, data management, and stakeholder communications
- .Communicate technical requirements, study assumptions, findings, and recommendations to project developers, utilities, and other stakeholders
- .Track project milestones from initial study request through commercial operation and maintain alignment with established interconnection processes
- .Prepare technical reports and presentations documenting engineering analyses and recommendations
.Required Educatio
- nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- .Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
.Required ExperienceLevel
- ILess than 1 year of experience (beyond degree requirements) in the electric utility, power systems, or energy industry
.Level I
- IMinimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility, power systems, or energy industry
.Preferred Qualification
- sExperience within the electric utility, transmission planning, or power generation industry
- .Experience performing power system load flow studies using PSS®E or similar power system analysis software
- .Experience conducting transfer capability and transmission system impact studies
- .Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- .Experience preparing detailed technical reports and engineering documentation
- .Programming experience with Python, VBA, or similar languages
- .Experience working with databases and creating queries using Access, Oracle, SQL, or related tools
- .Experience with transmission reliability assessment and planning tools such as TARA or equivalent applications
