About The Role

The Budget Execution Specialist is a critical member of our financial management team, responsible for providing expert support in the execution and management of federal budgets for facilities management programs. This role involves overseeing the distribution, obligation, expenditure, reconciliation, and reporting of appropriated funds, ensuring strict adherence to federal financial regulations and policies. The successful candidate will work closely with program managers, budget offices, acquisition teams, and financial stakeholders to facilitate the efficient and compliant execution of annual budgets. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects supporting federal facilities and infrastructure, with remote work options available based on operational needs, with a preference for candidates to conduct duties from Albuquerque, NM, or Reston, VA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or a related field; relevant experience may be substituted
  • Minimum of five (5) years of federal budget execution, financial management, or related experience supporting federal appropriated funds
  • Experience in budget analysis, financial reporting, and fund tracking within federal systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal suitability determination or background investigation
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Must pass a federal background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, tracking, and execution of federal funding, ensuring compliance with all federal financial management policies and procedures
  • Monitor obligations, expenditures, allocations, and fund distributions, including managing Undelivered Orders (UDO)
  • Prepare and maintain financial tracking reports, spend plans, and operating plans to facilitate accurate budget execution
  • Reconcile financial data, assist with closeout activities, and support financial management related to contracts, interagency funding, and agreements
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc financial reports for leadership, providing insights and recommendations based on budget execution data
  • Analyze program funding status, identify potential risks to budget execution, and recommend corrective actions
  • Coordinate with acquisition, finance, and program offices on funding actions and financial documentation
  • Assist in the formulation of strategic financial plans, including cost estimates and lifecycle budgets
  • Support budget formulation and execution activities throughout the fiscal year, ensuring seamless financial operations
