Senior Transmission Engineer - Renewable Energy

Salary : $175,000 - $190,000
Are you an experienced Transmission Engineer looking for an opportunity where you can take technical ownership of complex high-voltage projects today, while positioning yourself to step into engineering management and team leadership as the group continues to grow? We are seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer for high-voltage transmission and power delivery projects for utilities, developers, and energy infrastructure clients across the U.S.
This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants to accelerate their technical development and gain exposure to complex projects alongside experienced Professional Engineers. This role is responsible to work alongside renewable energy developers and EPCs on projects that are helping shape the next generation of energy infrastructure. You’ll operate as a technical leader and subject matter expert, taking ownership of transmission engineering scopes from concept through construction, working directly with clients, mentoring engineers, and helping establish the technical standards and processes of a growing transmission practice. Most importantly, this position is designed to evolve. As the transmission group expands, this individual will have the opportunity to move into a managerial leadership position with up to three direct reports, combining technical oversight, project leadership, mentorship, and team development.
- Lead the engineering and design of complex high-voltage transmission line projects from concept through detailed design and construction support, including line modeling, structure loading, plan & profiles, and constructability reviews.
- Develop and review advanced transmission models using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER, while overseeing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and structure loading reports.
- Coordinate across transmission, structural, substation, civil, and geotechnical disciplines, including structure/foundation design and integration at transmission line terminations and system interfaces.
- Serve as a senior technical point of contact for utilities, developers, and other power delivery clients, leading technical meetings, design reviews, field coordination, and resolution of complex engineering challenges.
- Provide senior-level QA/QC and technical oversight, ensuring designs comply with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and utility-specific standards while improving internal engineering processes and design standards.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and designers, with the opportunity to progress into a managerial position overseeing approximately three direct reports as the transmission group continues to grow.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of Transmission Line / Power Delivery Engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading high-voltage transmission line projects through engineering, design, multi-discipline coordination, and construction support.
- Expert-level proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER, including transmission line modeling, structure loading, line design, and plan & profile development.
- Strong knowledge of NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ASCE 10, and utility-specific transmission standards, with the technical judgment to independently review and approve complex engineering work.
- Proven ability to lead technical project scopes, mentor engineers, perform QA/QC reviews, and communicate directly with utilities, developers, and other clients.
Preferred Qualifications.
- PE license strongly preferred, with additional experience in tools such as RISA 3D, SAP2000, RISA Foundation, LPILE, AutoCAD, Revit, or MathCAD considered a plus.
