About The Role The Strategic Data Scientist at McKesson's CoverMyMeds division plays a vital role in driving data-driven decision-making and strategic insights. This position involves analyzing complex healthcare and pharmaceutical data to support business growth, optimize product offerings, and enhance customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced analytics, statistical methods, and machine learning techniques to generate actionable insights that directly influence company strategies and client outcomes. As a key member of the analytics team, the Strategic Data Scientist collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and client services, to understand business needs and develop tailored analytical solutions. This role requires a proactive mindset, curiosity, and the ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and impactful manner. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and relevant industry experience. Healthcare experience, particularly within the pharmaceutical or health insurance sectors, is highly desirable. Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience in analytics roles, demonstrating proficiency in data science methodologies including decision trees, multivariate analysis, segmentation modeling, regression analysis, forecasting, and machine learning. Strong skills in statistical software such as Python, R, SAS, or MATLAB are essential. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools like Tableau or Excel is required. Excellent communication skills are necessary to translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations. Candidates should be self-motivated, curious problem solvers capable of managing multiple priorities effectively. Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal teams and external clients by demonstrating the value of data insights through compelling storytelling and visualizations.
- Conduct proactive analyses of portfolio performance, customer needs, and market trends to identify opportunities and risks, supporting strategic decision-making.
- Apply advanced statistical methods and predictive modeling techniques to analyze product data, identify key drivers, and forecast future outcomes.
- Monitor the health of client portfolios, provide regular stakeholder updates, and escalate issues promptly to ensure optimal performance.
- Create and deliver clear, concise visual reports and presentations that communicate complex findings effectively to diverse audiences.
- Identify opportunities to enhance analytical processes, improve product value, and increase operational efficiency.
- Support complex client requests and issue escalations by collaborating with account teams to develop tailored solutions.
- Contribute insights that inform strategic initiatives related to product development, market positioning, and operational improvements.
- Develop deep understanding of CoverMyMeds, the pharmaceutical industry, and specific client account contexts to provide relevant and impactful insights.
