📌 Job Title: Claims Consultant – Construction Defect
📍 Location: Remote

⏳ Type: Contract - 3 Months, Likely Conversion
🎓 Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
• Typically 5–7 years of relevant experience in claim handling
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire
📝 Summary:
We’re seeking a highly skilled Claims Consultant to manage complex commercial claims related to construction defects. This role involves handling claims under both occurrence-based CGL policies and claims-made E&O policies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills while coordinating resolution activities and maintaining high standards of quality and customer service. This position may be dedicated to specific accounts and requires regular interaction with customers and insureds.
🛠️ Job Responsibilities:
• Manage investigations of complex claims including coverage, liability, compensability, and damages
• Determine resolution strategy, settlement or litigation, and manage loss costs and expenses
• Coordinate litigation strategy with counsel and manage discovery
• Negotiate settlements and authorize payments within scope of authority
• Coordinate third-party recovery with subrogation/salvage units
• Provide recommendations on claims processes and strategies
• Prepare and present reports to management and internal partners
• Collaborate with attorneys, agents, doctors, and insureds
• Stay current on regulations, industry trends, and participate in trade groups
• Mentor less experienced claims staff
• Accurately input data reflecting claim circumstances and outcomes

• Advanced technical expertise in claims resolution and insurance principles
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with creativity in resolving challenges
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and business-related software
• Adaptability and openness to diverse ideas
• Ability to evaluate claims using cost-benefit analysis
• Strategic thinking aligned with long-term business goals
⭐ Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional designations (e.g., CPCU) are a plus
• Experience with high-exposure claims in construction defect or similar domains
• Familiarity with both CGL and E&O policy structures
