About Cove Drinks
Cove Drinks makes better-for-you beverages that people actually want to drink again. We're a fast-growing challenger in the Canadian beverage market, and we're building a finance team that can move as quickly and confidently as the rest of the business.
The Role
Cove Drinks is looking for a Director of FP&A to lead financial planning, forecasting, and business analysis across the company. This role owns the annual budget process, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning, and acts as a strategic partner to the leadership team — translating financial data into decisions that drive growth. The ideal candidate has deep experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), where margin discipline, trade spend, and volume/mix dynamics are second nature.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly/quarterly forecasting cycles across revenue, gross margin, trade spend, and operating expenses.
- Build and maintain financial models that support pricing decisions, new product launches, and channel/customer profitability analysis.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain leadership to track performance against plan and flag risks and opportunities early.
- Own monthly management reporting, including variance analysis and clear, actionable commentary for the executive team and board.
- Develop long-range financial plans that support fundraising, capacity planning, and strategic decision-making.
- Manage trade spend and promotional ROI analysis specific to CPG go-to-market models.
- Build and mentor an FP&A function as the company scales, including hiring and developing analysts.
- Improve financial systems, tools, and processes to increase forecasting accuracy and reporting efficiency.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis for pricing, M&A, capital allocation, and new market entry.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience, including people management.
- Required: prior experience in CPG (food, beverage, or consumer products), with direct exposure to trade spend, gross-to-net revenue, and retail/distributor channel economics.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA a plus.
- Advanced financial modeling skills and fluency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with FP&A or ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Adaptive Insights, Anaplan) preferred.
- Track record of partnering with cross-functional leaders (Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations) to drive business performance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear recommendations for non-finance stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving processes.
- Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, or board-level presentations is a plus.
