Our client, a leading beauty retailer, is seeking proactive and highly organized Project Manager. The Project Manager, Merchandising Space Optimization plays a critical role in executing merchandise planning and space-mapping initiatives across freestanding retail locations and partner store formats. This role supports large-scale retrofit, enhancement, and rebranding programs across a portion of the U.S. store fleet, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with sales and merchandising objectives. The Project Manager will support the setup, branding, and maintenance of store floor plans within a new floor planning system while partnering closely with the Senior Project Manager and cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, process-driven, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with multiple concurrent priorities.

_**Please note this is a remote, 12-month contract role based in San Francisco, CA. Pay will be $33-$34/hr.**_Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the collection and implementation of merchant strategies and field requests on store maps, contributing to biannual rebranding initiatives designed to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Set up, brand, and maintain store floor plans as part of the transition to a new floor planning system.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of multiple store retrofit and enhancement projects, each with unique timelines, scopes, and operational requirements.
  • Own and execute master project timelines, tracking progress and ensuring all deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain and manage master databases detailing branded and animated merchandising space by store and fixture across an assigned portion of the U.S. store fleet.
  • Create new assortments and manage inventory start and stop dates for existing brand-level assortments impacted by retrofit and enhancement initiatives.
  • Partner with Regional Directors and District Managers to evaluate and manage field requests (where feasible) and align on final store maps, building strong regional knowledge of assigned locations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Property Development, Purchasing & Procurement, Retail Operations, Visual Marketing, Inventory, and other partners to ensure seamless execution of store projects.
  • Analyze brand productivity and performance by store to support data-driven merchandising and branding decisions.
  • Develop a working understanding of merchandising principles, capital expenditure budgets, and brand guidelines to support effective space planning and identify opportunities for sales growth and cost efficiencies.
  • Proactively communicate updates, risks, and issues, and support problem resolution throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • 1–3+ years of experience within a retail environment, preferably in Merchandising, Operations, Space Planning, or a related function.
  • Highly process-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Experience with space planning or floor planning software (e.g., Blue Yonder) is a plus
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and capable of making informed decisions with incomplete information.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams and field leadership.
  • Positive, proactive, and collaborative team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong sense of urgency with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
