Job Description

Posted on: January 20, 2026

Company: Assemble

Location: Remote

Hours: Vary weekly (typically 10–20 hours depending on project load)

Position Overview

Assemble is hiring a Web Editor & Designer to support our film website builds and digital marketing efforts. This role is a mix of website editing, light web design, data entry/quality control, and digital asset preparation within our custom CMS and existing systems.

This role is intended for an active freelance designer/editor who is already working with clients and is looking to add ongoing, structured work to their workload. You should be technically confident with HTML, CSS, and Photoshop, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable executing within established systems and templates.

Responsibilities

  • Make updates and edits inside Assemble’s custom CMS to support new film website builds and ongoing site maintenance.
  • Design, format, and edit website pages using Assemble’s established website formula, client assets, and brand guidelines.
  • Apply HTML and CSS as needed to adjust layouts, styling, and presentation within existing page structures.
  • Perform data entry and data verification in the backend of our system to ensure all film, client, and campaign information is accurate and complete.
  • Review pages and data for accuracy, formatting, broken links, missing content, and other issues before anything goes live.
  • Prepare and optimize images for web use, including cutting, masking, resizing, and exporting assets in Photoshop.
  • Create basic digital marketing materials (web-ready graphics, simple layouts using provided assets and templates).
  • Follow existing workflows and checklists for site builds, updates, approvals, and publishing.
  • Proactively flag missing assets, data issues, or risks to quality or timelines.
  • Document recurring issues and suggest opportunities to reduce errors or improve efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must currently have active clients
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS (required).
  • 10+ years of hands-on Adobe Photoshop experience, including cutting images, masking, retouching, and preparing assets for web.
  • Experience editing and managing websites in WordPress or a similar CMS.
  • Proven ability to work within established systems, templates, and brand guidelines.
  • Strong eye for layout, spacing, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Extremely detail-oriented; comfortable with repetitive, accuracy-driven work.
  • Clear, proactive communicator who raises issues early and follows direction closely.
  • Located within a U.S. time zone.

Role Details

  • Type: Part-time, contract
  • Schedule: Flexible, with responsiveness during agreed-upon working hours
  • Compensation: Hourly, commensurate with experience
