Job DescriptionJob Title: Senior BD Leader (Utilities / Survey Services) Type: Direct Hire Work Location: Remote Job Overview Our client is seeking an internal candidate who is well versed in Survey Business Development. This position may be filled at various levels, depending on experience, demonstrated performance, and scope of responsibility. We are seeking a high level survey sales professional at a Manager, Director or Vice President of Business Development level. This role is designed to support continued growth across our professional and technical services and offers a clear opportunity for progression as responsibilities and impact increase. The Business Development Leader is a senior revenue driving leadership role responsible for driving the company’s growth through a combination of hunting new logo, strategic selling, market positioning, and client engagement. This role partners closely with marketing and operations to strengthen the firm’s brand presence, elevate its value proposition, and bring high-impact service offerings to market. While focused on expanding awareness and influence within key industries, the primary objective remains generating new revenue, building durable client relationships, and translating market opportunity into measurable business results. Essential Job Responsibilities Strategic Growth and Market Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy that expands the firm’s market presence and supports its growth goals.
- Identify and prioritize new clients, client contacts, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Collaborate with land and technical services operations leaders to shape go-to-market strategies for service offerings.
- Conduct market and competitive analysis to inform business decisions and strategic positioning.
Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
- Own, and cultivate senior-level client relationships, identifying, qualifying, and advancing high-value opportunities across both new and existing clients.
- Lead pursuit efforts for high-priority and high-growth client accounts – from initial engagement through long-term relationship development – positioning the firm as a trusted advisor.
- This role is highly relationship-driven, with 50% of time spent in client-facing, in-person engagements to deep end partnerships and drive new opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless onboarding and client satisfaction that drives repeat business.
Strategic Partnerships and Alliances
- Represent the firm at conferences, industry associations, and networking events to generate leads and build brand awareness and credibility.
- Partner with marketing to design thought leadership campaigns, sponsorships, and events.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, inspire and mentor the business development team, creating alignment with operational priorities while setting a high standard for client engagement and results.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative team culture that emphasizes integrity, client focus, and measurable outcomes.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to assess performance and continuously refine business development processes.
Operational and Financial Management
- Adhere to established annual budget.
- Assist with the development of client revenue forecasting.
- Ensure CRM and pipeline management tools are used to track opportunities, proposal data, client interactions, and revenue projections.
- Partner with accounting and operations leadership teams to develop pricing strategies that balance profitability and competitiveness.
Innovation and Thought Leadership
- Champion and elevate through leadership across the organization, partnering with operational experts to showcase the firm’s expertise and market perspective.
- Promote cross-department collaboration to leverage the firm’s full range of capabilities for client solutions.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, or other related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or building strategic partnerships within a professional services environment, with final leveling based on depth of experience and demonstrated impact.
- Demonstrated success building trusted, executive-level client relationships that translate into long-term partnerships, expanded account growth, and repeat revenue.
- Deep understanding of service offerings and professional services sales lifecycle, including consultative selling and relationship management best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to influence complex decisions and align senior stakeholders across the organization and client base.
- Ability to work autonomously and to collaborate fully as a team player.
- Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted).
- Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations and Company policies and procedures.
Work Environment And Physical Demands
- Spends 50% of the time traveling in the field.
- Required to sit, use hands to finger handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Occasionally life and or move up to 25 pounds.

Job Requisition # 40124 #Hybrid #Survey A reasonable estimate of the Base Salary for this role is $120,000 - $195,000 per year. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, such as skills and experience levels.
