Biochemist – AI Data TrainerAbout The Role Your deep expertise in biochemistry is more valuable than you might think — beyond the lab. Alignerr partners with the world's leading AI research teams to build and train cutting-edge scientific AI models, and we need PhD-level biochemists to help get it right. In this role, you'll challenge and refine advanced AI systems on topics like protein folding, metabolic flux analysis, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics. Your insights will directly shape how AI reasons about life sciences — making it more accurate, rigorous, and trustworthy for researchers worldwide. What You'll Do Fully remote. Flexible hours. No AI experience required.
- Design Expert-Level Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry challenges across domains such as nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop detailed, step-by-step technical responses that serve as scientific benchmarks for AI reasoning in life sciences.
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for technical accuracy, logical consistency, and adherence to scientific standards.
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify failures in AI logic — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
- PhD-level expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field (completed or in final stages)
- Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics
- Able to communicate highly technical biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
- High attention to detail when reviewing complex equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or academic publishing
