What We Look For In a AP Research Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of research methodology, literature review construction, qualitative and quantitative research design, data collection and analysis, academic writing conventions, and oral presentation techniques. Ability to explain research question formulation, source evaluation, methodological frameworks, and ethical research practices while preparing students for the AP Research academic paper and presentation assessment.

• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with AP Research curriculum and common challenges such as narrowing a viable research question, navigating IRB ethical requirements, and integrating multiple sources into a cohesive literature review. Adapts instruction using research proposal workshops, writing conferences, and presentation rehearsal to support students completing the AP Capstone Diploma program research paper and oral defense.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
