# Software Engineer, C++
## About the Role
Figma is seeking a Software Engineer to work on technically challenging and high-impact areas of its collaborative design platform. You will develop high-performance client-side systems using C++ and WebAssembly, extend multiplayer protocols that power real-time collaboration, and build communication layers between C++ and JavaScript.
You will help create fast, accessible, and intuitive browser experiences while working with complex data models and intermittent connectivity. This is a highly collaborative role involving designers, product managers, and engineers working on products used by millions of people worldwide.
## Key Responsibilities
* Build core features and frontend infrastructure for a real-time, multiplayer system with a complex in-memory SceneGraph data model.
* Optimize browser performance and memory usage using C++/WebAssembly and TypeScript.
* Extend the core C++ engine and multiplayer protocols to support scalable design systems, branching and merging workflows, and advanced collaboration modes.
* Design and build APIs and developer tooling that enable product teams to build against the platform effectively.
* Contribute to accessibility strategy and implementation.
* Collaborate with product, design, and engineering partners to plan and execute high-impact technical projects.
* Write clear, maintainable code and documentation.
* Contribute to architectural and technical decisions.
* Mentor and support engineers through pairing, code reviews, and feedback.
* Help drive recruitment and contribute to an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture.
## Required Qualifications
* 4+ years of professional Software Engineering experience shipping user-facing features or products.
* Strong programming skills in one or more relevant languages, including C++, TypeScript, React, Go, Rust, or Python.
* Experience with web-based applications, browser performance, or real-time collaborative systems.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines to deliver complex technical projects.
## Preferred Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in a technical lead role, particularly working across multiple teams.
* Experience with game engines, rendering systems, or other performance-critical applications.
* Experience with developer platforms or API design.
* Familiarity with WebAssembly, browser internals, or C++ in a frontend context.
* Interest in collaborative tools and creative workflows.
* Strong product mindset and attention to user experience.

## Work Arrangement & Schedule

* Remote compensation is localized based on employee work location.
* Candidates are required to keep their cameras on during video interviews.

## Compensation & Benefits
* Annual base salary range: $153,000–$376,000 USD.
* For remote roles, the compensation range is localized according to employee work location at 80%–100% of the applicable range.
