ABOUT THE ROLENote - this is not an adjuster role

The Worker’s Compensation Specialist reports directly to the Worker’s Compensation Manager. The Worker’s Compensation Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of the workers’ compensation (WC) program. This role will assist the Workers’ Compensation Manager to ensure timely and accurate claims reporting, maintain compliance with state and federal requirements, and serve as a key member of the workers’ compensation team as it relates to the overall development and oversight of the WC program.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized, able to work on multiple tasks with little to no supervision, and will have a solid knowledge base in workers’ compensation.

Salaried (based on experience)

Monday-Friday, Full-Time, Exempt

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide day to day support of the workers' compensation program.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of the workers’ compensation claims program.
  • Ensure timely reporting of claims and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Monitor claim status and follow up on medical treatment, return-to-work plans, and case progression.
  • Collaborate with HR, insurance carriers, third party administrators, etc. to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies, as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee medical and claim information.
  • Assist in developing and implementing return-to-work and light-duty programs.
  • Assist in the continuous development of a best-in-class worker’s compensation program.
  • Schedule worker’s compensation meetings/trainings, as needed.
  • Assist in preparing reports and metrics for management review.
  • Complete administrative tasks as needed to support the Safety team.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with an associate degree in risk management or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in workers' compensation claims management role(s) – (carrier or employer side)
  • Strong understanding of workers' compensation procedures.
  • Knowledge of state and federal workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of monopolistic state requirements and processes.
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Passionate commitment to health and safety.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

In performing this job, the employee will be working remotely and should have suitable/dedicated space that ensures confidentiality in the handling of company information.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The job will be performed remotely. There may be some travel which will be less than 1%, if at all.
