About the role

Director of Business Development — NewSpace

Location: Remote, United States

Compensation: Flexible base salary and incentive structure; first-year guaranteed total earnings targeted around $220,000–$230,000, subject to experience and agreement

Incentives: Uncapped bookings-based earning potential

Travel: Approximately 10–25%

EVONA is partnering with an established RF hardware company investing in a dedicated NewSpace business. We’re looking for a well-connected space-industry professional to own commercial growth: open doors, create qualified opportunities and turn customer requirements into signed business.

You’ll sell RF hardware for space applications, including amplifiers, frequency converters and custom solutions designed around customer specifications. You’ll have direct access to leadership and meaningful influence over account priorities, partnerships and market strategy.

The foundation includes active opportunities, developed target accounts and established market positioning. A solutions engineer has been hired specifically to support this commercial role, with a dedicated RF design engineer planned next. Marketing, customer travel and event budgets are in place to support growth.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and execute an account strategy across satellite manufacturers, spacecraft bus providers, smallsat integrators and communications/payload companies.
  • Generate opportunities through targeted outreach, industry relationships, customer visits and market intelligence.
  • Build relationships with RF and communications engineers, engineering leaders, program managers and procurement teams.
  • Lead discovery to understand technical requirements, budgets, buying processes and delivery timelines.
  • Partner with engineering to assess product fit and custom development opportunities.
  • Lead proposal development, coordinate pricing and commercial terms, negotiate and close orders.
  • Own commercial relationships with new and repeat customers, coordinating delivery handoffs with internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records, opportunity plans and forecasts.
  • Develop partnerships and channels, represent the business at events and inform product strategy through customer feedback.

What we’re looking for

  • Approximately 10+ years of meaningful space-industry experience.
  • Established relationships with relevant commercial space companies and technical decision-makers.
  • Evidence of personally creating opportunities and driving them toward commercial results.
  • Technical fluency in RF, communications or engineered aerospace hardware.
  • Experience navigating complex customer requirements and coordinating technical and commercial proposals.
  • A self-directed, hands-on approach to prospecting, relationship development and closing.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and customer follow-through.
  • A bachelor’s degree and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with a valid passport.

Relevant backgrounds

RF and space communications hardware experience is especially valuable. Candidates selling other engineered spacecraft products—including avionics, solar panels, connectors or cables—will also be considered where they bring relevant buyer relationships and commercial drive.

Space systems engineers or engineering leaders moving into business development may also be considered if they demonstrate customer credibility, commercial judgment and a proactive approach to winning business.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Director-level ownership: Shape the commercial direction of a dedicated NewSpace business.
  • Technical support built around sales: A solutions engineer hired to support your pursuits, with an RF design engineering hire planned.
  • Supported ramp: Close partnership with an experienced technical leader, including customer-call support during approximately the first six months.
  • Existing opportunities: Build on an active pipeline, defined target accounts and developed market positioning.
  • Broader incentive credit: Qualifying NewSpace bookings count, including inherited opportunities and business originated by other team members.
  • Budget to reach customers: Marketing, travel and event resources support relationship development.
  • Custom engineering capability: Offer solutions developed around customer specifications.
  • Flexible compensation: A guaranteed first-year package during ramp, with the base/incentive mix negotiable for the right candidate.

This is a hands-on commercial role with responsibility for personally developing and winning business.

Benefits

Paid time off and company holidays; medical, dental, vision and life insurance options; Employee Assistance Program; a $4,000 Health Reimbursement Arrangement; and a 401(k) with company match.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet U.S. Person requirements under ITAR due to access to export-controlled technical data.
