Electrical Designer – Commercial & Industrial Projects
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support the design and development of electrical systems for healthcare, commercial, and industrial facilities. This position requires a well-rounded designer with strong Revit proficiency, consulting engineering experience, and the ability to independently manage electrical design responsibilities throughout all phases of a project.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems, with the ability to take a project from initial scope of work through schematic design, construction documents, and construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs, construction documents, and detailed engineering drawings using Revit.
- Design power distribution, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm systems for commercial, industrial, and healthcare facilities.
- Produce electrical plans, panel schedules, riser diagrams, single-line diagrams, and installation details.
- Support projects through all phases, including Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and Construction Administration (CA).
- Independently manage electrical design deliverables based on project scope and requirements.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews, technical coordination meetings, and client discussions.
- Perform field verification, incorporate engineering redlines, and update construction documents as needed.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Support multiple projects while maintaining design quality and project schedules.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical design experience supporting commercial and/or industrial building projects.
- 2+ years of hands-on Revit experience performing electrical design and production work.
- Strong experience designing power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
- Previous experience working in a consulting engineering environment.
- Experience supporting projects from schematic design through construction documentation and construction administration.
- Ability to independently develop electrical drawings and construction documents from a defined scope of work.
- Experience coordinating electrical designs across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Electrical design experience supporting healthcare facilities.
- Experience with lighting calculation software, including AGi32, ElumTools, or Visual Lighting.
- Experience with power system analysis software, including SKM PowerTools or ETAP.
- Experience supporting complex, multidisciplinary building design projects.
Ideal Candidate
A versatile, hands-on Electrical Designer who can take ownership of electrical design activities from start to finish. This individual should be highly proficient in Revit, comfortable designing multiple building electrical systems, and experienced working within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment.
Experience independently developing electrical construction documents and supporting complex healthcare, commercial, or industrial projects is highly desirable.
