Regulatory Operations Specialist, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $100,000/year USD
Job Description
Posted on: December 1, 2025
You're not here to file paperwork — you're here to launch functioning schools. At 2 Hour Learning, we're rethinking education to return time to students. Our approach condenses a full school day into two concentrated hours through AI-driven personalization, allowing students to dedicate their afternoons to developing practical skills instead of sitting in traditional classrooms. But before any of that innovation takes shape, a school must open — compliant, safe, and punctual. That's your mission. This position doesn't involve drafting policy from afar or overseeing from a distance. You'll be in the field (and frequently traveling), transforming a signed lease into an operational campus: investigating municipal permits, contacting inspectors, securing approvals, managing contractor coordination, and leveraging AI tools to accelerate school openings by weeks beyond conventional timelines. You'll collaborate directly with experienced operators and construction crews — not from an office, but at active sites and municipal offices, delivering results you can definitively claim: "That campus opened because of my work." This position suits a quick learner seeking more than résumé padding. You'll deliver tangible outcomes, assume responsibility early, and advance rapidly. If you thrive on converting disorder into structured workflows and inquiries into official approvals, let's connect. What You Will Be Doing
- Investigating municipal requirements and converting bureaucratic obstacles into executable action plans using AI tools and authoritative sources
- Assembling and submitting accurate, thorough filings — licenses, inspections, exemptions — and monitoring them through to approval
- Communicating with municipal clerks, coordinating contractor schedules, and ensuring construction timelines stay synchronized with regulatory deadlines
- Maintaining trackers and dashboards to keep teams informed of completed items, blockers, and upcoming tasks
- Traveling 3-4 days per week to U.S. cities to advance school openings directly on-site
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Sitting at a desk speculating about regulations — you'll confirm information directly from authoritative sources
- Waiting for direction on next actions — this role requires proactive initiative, not passive compliance
- Spending time drafting generic content — we leverage AI for efficiency and precision, not filler
- Remaining in theoretical planning — this is hands-on execution with concrete deadlines and measurable outcomes
- Constantly living out of a suitcase — travel is frequent but strategic, purposeful, and fully expensed
Regulatory Operations Specialist Key Responsibilities Enable compliant, timely campus launches by integrating AI-powered research, construction coordination, and proactive stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions. Basic Requirements
- Located in the U.S. with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship
- Available to travel 60-80% of the time to U.S. cities and states
- Proven experience using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity) for research, planning, or communication tasks
- Strong communicator — approachable by phone, articulate in writing, persuasive with stakeholders
- History of consistently meeting or beating deadlines in high-velocity environments
- Detail-oriented — every document, signature, and follow-up is executed flawlessly
- Rapid learner — quickly absorbs new regulatory frameworks, procedures, or technologies
- Adept at managing multiple projects, schedules, and external collaborators concurrently
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Experience in construction-related, operations-intensive, or compliance-oriented roles (internships included)
- Educational background in public policy, business, communications, or legal disciplines
- Prior success resolving complex logistical challenges in professional, internship, or volunteer contexts
