Math Olympiad Coach - Part-Time, gt.school (Remote) - $37,500/year USD
Job Description
Posted on: May 4, 2026
You've mastered challenging problems. Now apply that expertise where it matters most: equipping talented students to compete, advance, and succeed. GT School serves families seeking more than satisfactory report cards. We prepare gifted students through genuine challenges: national and international contests, public performance records, and accomplishments that endure. This position exists because our mathematics program succeeds only when students emerge from sessions more capable, more confident, and fully prepared for competitive environments. This is not a standard tutoring position. You will lead live online workshops that challenge exceptional students, provide focused contest preparation for competitions such as AMC and AIME, and develop reusable resources that elevate standards across GT Anywhere and GT campuses. If you excel at converting natural ability into documented results and can communicate complex concepts with precision, this role will suit you. If you possess a genuine track record of mathematical achievement and wish to contribute to developing future champions, we invite your application. What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and conduct 2β4 live online domain workshops weekly that cultivate competition-standard reasoning skills
- Provide 1:1 or small-group coaching for specific competitions through mock examinations, timed exercises, and thorough analysis
- Identify weaknesses quickly and develop tailored advancement plans aligned with individual student objectives and forthcoming contests
- Monitor development using a structured mathematics progression framework and modify teaching methods based on data
- Produce original, demanding problem collections and modular instructional materials that other teachers can deploy at scale
What You Wonβt Be Doing
- Provide general homework assistance or grade-focused tutoring lacking specific, quantifiable results
- Conduct conventional classroom-format lessons that conclude at standard curriculum boundaries
- Facilitate unorganized problem practice without strategy, feedback mechanisms, or competitive pathway
- Rely on duplicated or insufficiently rigorous materials that fail to satisfy competitive mathematics standards
Math Olympiad Coach Key Responsibilities This position ensures that gifted students reliably produce measurable, competition-grade mathematical outcomes that GT School can showcase and families can depend upon. Basic Requirements
- Documented elite mathematical accomplishment (e.g., Olympiad medal, AIME qualification, top national ranking, or equivalent verifiable record)
- Minimum 6 months of teaching, coaching, or mentoring experience with demonstrable results
- Capacity to communicate advanced mathematics in clear, accessible language to gifted young students
- Comprehensive knowledge of mathematics competition structures, content areas, and preparation methodology (e.g., AMC, AIME, Olympiads)
- Effective online teaching presence and capability to maintain student engagement through video instruction
- Availability for 5β10 hours weekly
- Dependable internet connection and professional video equipment
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Current, ongoing participation as a competitor, coach, or creator of competition-oriented content
- Background developing reusable instructional libraries, problem collections, or curricula for use by other educators
- Documented student achievements including qualifications, rankings, medals, or other verified competitive results
