Gifted Math Coach - Part-Time, gt.school (Remote) - $37,500/year USD
Job Description
Posted on: April 20, 2026
You have mastered difficult problems. Now apply that expertise where it matters most: equipping gifted students to compete, qualify, and achieve at the highest levels. GT School serves families seeking more than satisfactory report cards. We prepare gifted learners through authentic challenges: national and international competitions, publicly visible results, and accomplishments students take with them into the future. This position exists because our math curriculum succeeds only when students emerge from each session more capable, more confident, and fully prepared for competitive environments. This is not a standard tutoring position. You will facilitate live virtual sessions designed to challenge exceptional students, provide focused preparation for contests such as AMC and AIME, and develop high-quality resources that elevate instruction across GT Anywhere and GT campuses. If you excel at transforming potential into documented achievement and can present complex concepts with precision, this role will suit you well. If you possess a verified track record of mathematical excellence and wish to contribute to developing the next generation of champions, we invite your application. What You Will Be Doing
- Plan and facilitate 2–4 live virtual domain sessions weekly that develop competition-grade mathematical reasoning
- Provide 1:1 or small-group coaching for specific competitions through mock assessments, timed practice, and comprehensive review
- Identify weaknesses quickly and develop individualized growth plans aligned with each student's objectives and competition timeline
- Monitor student advancement using a structured math competency framework and modify teaching approaches based on performance data
- Develop original, challenging problem collections and modular instructional content suitable for broader educator use
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Provide general homework assistance or grade-focused tutoring lacking defined, trackable results
- Conduct conventional classroom instruction limited to standard academic curriculum
- Offer unplanned problem practice sessions without strategic direction, assessment mechanisms, or competitive preparation pathways
- Rely on borrowed or insufficient materials failing to meet competitive mathematics standards
Gifted Math Coach Key Responsibilities This position ensures that gifted students reliably attain documented, competition-level mathematical outcomes that GT School can showcase and families can depend upon. Basic Requirements
- Documented elite mathematical accomplishment (e.g., Olympiad medal, AIME qualification, top national ranking, or comparable verifiable achievement)
- Minimum 6 months of instructional, coaching, or mentoring experience demonstrating tangible results
- Capacity to communicate sophisticated mathematics clearly and intuitively to gifted young students
- Comprehensive knowledge of math competition structures, content domains, and preparation methodologies (e.g., AMC, AIME, Olympiads)
- Effective virtual instruction skills and capability to maintain student engagement through video platforms
- Availability for 5–10 hours weekly
- Dependable internet connection and professional-quality video equipment
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Current, ongoing participation as a competitor, coach, or creator of competition-oriented instructional content
- Background developing scalable lesson frameworks, problem collections, or curricula designed for use by additional instructors
- Documented student achievements including qualifications, rankings, medals, or other formally recognized competitive results
