Job Title: Site Civil EngineerJob Description The Site Civil Engineer will lead the technical design and execution of a wide range of site development projects for both private and public-sector clients. This role oversees all phases of project delivery, including site layout and infrastructure design, engineering calculations, cost estimates, and preparation of bid documents. The position is ideal for a licensed civil engineer who enjoys owning projects from concept through construction, providing technical leadership, and collaborating closely with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Serve as the Engineer of Record, when applicable, and provide technical leadership for site civil design deliverables.
- Develop and oversee site layouts, grading plans, drainage and stormwater management systems, utility designs for water and sanitary sewer, erosion and sediment control measures, and related site infrastructure.
- Perform and review engineering calculations, including hydrology and hydraulics, detention and retention sizing, storm sewer design, and earthwork analysis.
- Ensure all designs conform to local, state, and federal standards, including ADA requirements and applicable codes and regulations.
- Review plans, reports, and engineering calculations prepared by team members to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and completeness.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior staff, supporting their professional development and contributing to the continuous improvement of standards, templates, and best practices.
- Maintain strong documentation practices and ensure all deliverables comply with established QA/QC procedures.
- Manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, including proposal support, scope development, scheduling, budgeting, execution, and project closeout.
- Lead client communication, including tracking action items, managing deliverable schedules, and supporting change management and scope adjustments.
- Participate in or lead design meetings, site walks, and coordination sessions with clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
- Contribute to business development efforts by supporting proposals, helping to build client relationships, and identifying opportunities for new or expanded services on site development projects.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio.
- At least 8 years of relevant site civil engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with site development projects such as retail, correctional facilities, ADA trails and sidewalks, warehouse and industrial sites, education facilities, and municipal or commercial improvements.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site design, grading, utilities, and plan production.
- Proficiency in HydroCAD for stormwater modeling and design.
- Proven ability to manage projects, including scope, schedule, and budget, from concept through construction.
- Strong client communication skills with the ability to lead discussions, coordinate expectations, and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability and willingness to mentor staff and review work products for quality and completeness.
- Solid understanding of drainage, grading, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control design.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and ADA requirements related to site civil engineering.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record on site civil projects.
- Hands-on experience with hydrology and hydraulics calculations, including detention and retention system design and storm sewer sizing.
- Experience in site civil engineering for both private and public-sector clients.
- Experience in reviewing and preparing cost estimates and bid documents for site development projects.
- Familiarity with business development activities, including proposal support and client relationship building.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in documentation and QA/QC processes.
- Ability to participate in or lead design meetings, site walks, and coordination sessions with multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfort with a growth-oriented environment and interest in contributing to the development of standards, processes, and templates for a growing firm.
Work Environment This position operates in a 100% remote work environment, with all collaboration conducted through digital communication and design tools. The role will remain fully remote until a future brick-and-mortar office is established, which is anticipated no earlier than 2026. The position requires residency in Ohio to support licensure requirements and local project needs. The work focuses on site development projects across retail, correctional, ADA-compliant trails and sidewalks, warehouse and industrial facilities, educational campuses, and other municipal and commercial improvements. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Delaware, OH. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
