Product Marketing Manager (Senior IC, Distribution & Growth)

US Remote | Reports to VP of Product

Our client is a profitable, privately held leader in online connectivity hardware, helping people get reliable internet for nearly two decades. Alongside its own hardware, it offers a managed internet service built around reliability, private cellular networks for businesses, and a growing catalog of networking products from well-known third-party vendors. The team is about 50 people, fully remote, and has grown largely through word of mouth. Think real products and real customers, with untapped markets still to be found.

About the Role

The company is looking for a senior individual contributor to find demand for everything it sells, both its own products and the ones it resells, and turn that demand into a repeatable business. No one has yet owned this work. You'll sit on the product team and report to the VP of Product, a deliberate choice so the person who finds the market can shape pricing, packaging, onboarding, and the product itself. This is an ownership role, not a coordination role: within an agreed budget, you decide where the money goes and what to test. Sometimes the answer will be that a product has no viable route to market, and finding that out clearly and quickly counts as success too.

Responsibilities

  • Own distribution and positioning. Work out who each product is for and who it isn't, how those customers think about the problem, where to reach them, and what story will land, then run the experiments that show what works.
  • Lead paid media and email. Set strategy and budgets across Google, Meta, and Amazon, brief and judge creative, build landing pages with AI tools, manage agencies, and direct the email program, with accountability for results.
  • Run third-party products as a business. Decide which vendors and products to carry and where to sell them, build vendor relationships, negotiate terms within agreed margins, and use revenue and margin data to shape assortment, pricing, and investment.
  • Drive early traction for new lines, helping the private network products, especially the plug-and-play ones, find their first customers.
  • Hold the quality bar for product pages, listings, ads, emails, and landing pages, guiding writers, designers, and agencies to better work.
  • Know the customer deeply, including how they describe the problem, what they compare, and what makes them buy, and be a visible presence in the communities where they spend time, such as Reddit, Facebook groups, and forums.
  • Work alongside real support: a junior PM, a marketplace manager running Amazon and Shopify mechanics, design and content/SEO support at least half-time each, and agencies already in place.

Qualifications

  • Roughly 5-10 years of experience, with at least one strong example of establishing distribution
  • You've personally built a route to market for a product or service sold to end customers when no working approach existed (optimizing an inherited channel isn't enough on its own)
  • Owned paid media results on Google, Meta, or Amazon, from strategy and budget through creative and landing pages, and can explain what the growth cost and why it made commercial sense
  • Strong editorial and visual judgment, with a track record of making a writer's, designer's, or agency's work better
  • A preference for being a senior IC, motivated by ownership and decision-making freedom rather than building a team
  • Resourcefulness: when a tool, report, or process doesn't exist, you build enough of it with AI and lightweight tools to keep moving
  • Comfortable working mostly during US hours, with occasional US travel for vendors, partners, and events

Bonus Points

  • Physical products or hardware experience
  • Amazon or marketplace strategy
  • Vendor relationships, range selection, pricing, and margin management
  • A technical consumer category such as connectivity, networking, backup power, security, smart home, RV, marine, or IoT
  • Background as a first marketing hire, growth lead, specialty e-commerce operator, or founder

What's In It For You

The chance to own growth across an entire product line at a company with a proven business and markets still waiting to be found. You'll have direct access to the VP of Product and CEO, the freedom to decide where budget goes, and the influence to shape the products themselves, not just how they're sold. The interview process includes a working exercise on a real business problem, so you'll see the work before you commit.
